Just like Maria, we have a few favorite things that we use over and over again, or that mommy refers to often! So, we thought we’d provide a list and some links for you. (I have not been paid or reimbursed for these recommendations. These are websites, apps and products that we actually use all the time). If you have a favorite thing and would like to make a suggestion, please comment and if we try it out and like it, we’ll add it to the list!
iallowance app – This is a must have app for parents with kids over 5. We use it to track everything including birthday money, charity money and allowance. My kids love it and it makes things so easy.
Parenting with Love and Logic – This is what mommy calls the parenting “bible”. This book has helped us tremendously, particularly when we are at our wits end with no knowing what to do next or how to discipline the kids. This is a MUST HAVE in any parent’s library!
100 days of real food – This website contains many recipes and posts about moving your family to eating fewer processed and more fresh foods. It also has a lot of tips and shortcuts for school lunches!
everythingessential.me – This is the go to resource for using DoTerra oils and can help with everything from warts to the flu to strep throat.
Woman Code – Fantastic book about how to eat, exercise and relax “with your cycle”, rather than because of it. The book explains in detail how women’s hormones affect everything in their body and how certain foods can support you through the different phases of your cycle and become more balanced.
Stark Trilogy by J.Kenner – My favorite “naughty” book series. I even wrote the author telling her how much I loved the series and she actually responded to my e-mail!!
FairyTales Rosemary Repel Leave in Conditioner – must have for preventing lice and getting out tangles in unruly hair!
Time Timer – we use this every morning to show the girls how much more time they have before we leave for school. We also use it to show them how much time they have to finish their chores, or anytime that we don’t want to have to keep reminding them. This doesn’t prevent all time related mishaps, but it has cut down on them significantly!!
Kajeet – This is a cell phone service where among other things you can: Block unwanted calls (i.e. calls can only be made to or received from approved phone numbers – sorry about that Auntie Ju Ju, it’s been fixed). Set Time limits– remotely you can prevent your child from using his/her phone during certain times (i.e. during school, or after a reasonable lights out period at sleepovers) Find your kid – in addition to a GPS tracking mechanism, you can set up an e-mail alert system to tell you when your child arrives at school, home or extra-curricular activity Prevent unsafe website access – even on smart phones you can block which websites your children have access to. And, each week the service sends you an e-mail to let you know who your child has texted, called, what websites they visited and when, etc. This service is invaluable.
Go the F**k to Sleep! Best book ever written! It’s particularly important for new parents.
